Department: Information Technology
Pay: $70,000 Annual Salary Plus Full Benefits
Schedule: Mon - Fri (40 hours per week)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The
purpose of this position is to participate in the management of the centralized
information technology environment of the college with an emphasis on network
infrastructure. This includes the
management, configuration, and operation of all data delivery systems, wired
and wireless network infrastructure, storage and server platforms involved in
the maintenance and delivery of information technology services. The position also provides consultation and
guidance to the department Director, campus users and other departments to
determine best possible technological solutions and processes for their
objectives, budget and goals that also achieve the greater campus-wide
requirements regarding network connectivity needs, network security controls,
standardization, hardware and software vendor relationships, compatibility with
existing network infrastructure, support requirements and sustainability.
Additional
responsibilities may involve high-level systems administration, design, and
collaboration using other core technology delivery platforms. This may include Microsoft Active Directory
and Azure services, File and Print services, Domain Name Services,
administration of campus IP address space; setup, configuration, maintenance,
troubleshooting of device connectivity including all client systems, printers,
servers, data storage systems, firewalls, switches, routers, routing protocols,
peering with other entities, and wireless access points; Maintains and supports
disaster recovery backup procedures and insures the integrity of the College’s
central data. Team participation, collaboration and communication with team
members and the campus community is required to keep continuity of support and
maintain services.
Occasional
night and weekend hours are required to assist with system upgrades,
maintenance and troubleshooting of mission-critical systems. The position reports directly to the Director
of Technology Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Network and Systems Support & Administration
- Provide problem analysis, troubleshooting and evaluation of wired and wireless network systems and related systems serving NoordaCOM in response to work orders and other requests as required. This may include troubleshooting switches, routers, system configurations, fiber-optic and copper communications connectivity.
- Will provide coordinated support with the rest of the IT staff for all systems maintained by the department. This includes, but is not limited to, the administration of authentication and authorization services, administration and maintenance of client systems, servers, assignment, and administration of the IP address space, administration of routing protocols and internal static routes and peering with other entities.
Network and Systems Monitoring
- Will implement and maintain alerting functionality on all systems critical to maintaining connectivity and operation of the network and computing infrastructure and will participate in the appropriate monitoring of all systems to support the operational use of mission-critical central computing technologies of the College. This includes documenting service incidents, reporting outages and recording up-time and performance metrics for the purpose of auditing, assessment and continuous improvement of the performance of the network computing environment of the College.
Updates and Maintenance- Will perform scheduled network systems maintenance as required and participate in the installation of necessary software, firmware updates, and patches of all network equipment, network devices, servers and other systems as required to maintain optimal functionality and security of the network computing environment. Will participate in weekly preventative-maintenance reviews and activities and contribute to the documentation thereof.
Network and Systems Implementation- Configuration and installation of all network equipment, servers, storage, other network devices and associated software. Coordination with vendors, contractors or any other third parties in the implementation of network computing infrastructure. Documentation of all implemented systems according to standard department practices.
Network and Systems Security- Assists in coordinating security-related activities such as operating system patches, network account creation, troubleshooting, maintenance, system audits, etc. Participation in all network security exercises, assessments and efforts to train system users and administrators in best information security practices. Will maintain highest level of integrity in the auditing and implementation of security controls in adherence to industry standard compliance requirements.
- Assists division and department in special projects as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Travel to other locations as needed for training, support, maintenance, and/or installation of network equipment and connected equipment as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: At least two years' experience in supporting a complex enterprise network infrastructure.
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer information systems, computer science or related field is preferred.
Licenses or Certifications: CompTIA Network+, CCNA or equivalent networking credential preferred.
Required Abilities & Skills:
- Knowledge and/or experience working with TCP/IP protocol and Ethernet networks.
- Knowledge and/or experience working with managed edge switching.
- Knowledge and/or experience working with enterprise wireless systems.
- Knowlege and/or experience working with DHCP and DNS services.
Preferred Abilities & Skills:
- Knowledge and/or experience working with Microsoft Windows servers and Active Directory domains.
- Strong organization and communication skills with a high attention to detail.
- Previous working experience requiring a high-level of customer service.
- Experience working well in a team environment.
- Demonstrated initiative as a motivated self-starter.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
- Experience designing, implementing, and documenting network configurations.
