Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine
Position: Director of Belonging & Inclusion
Department: Institutional Effectiveness
Pay: $60,000 - $70,000 Annual Salary with Full Benefits
Schedule: M – F (Full time, 40 hours per week)
Location: On-site (Provo, Utah)
Summary of Position:
This position has two components of equal importance. While the first is well-defined, the second is open to the specific skills and interests of the successful candidate as directed to the needs of the College.
The first half of the position, designated as the Director of the Office of Belonging and Inclusion, is responsible for contributing to people initiatives focused on engendering a sense of belonging for all students, faculty, and staff.
For the second half of the position, the successful candidate will craft, in coordination with their supervisor, other responsibilities that fall within their area of expertise and the institution's needs. These might include such areas as human resource management, legal, special project management, marketing and advancement, recruitment, or similar areas.
Accountabilities:
1. As relates to the first half of the position, in collaboration with the Committee on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (and others as appropriate):
- Contributes to College departments and committees on awareness of DEI-relevant accreditation standards. Assists with unit-level strategic planning and annual reports to promote belonging and inclusion.
- Assists with data collection, analysis, and reporting on DEI initiatives, for regional and specialized program accreditation.
- Coordinates and implements programming tied to diverse student and employee recruitment and onboarding, employee safety and belonging, clinical transition and experience, inclusive educational content (in support of faculty-led efforts), belonging training, legal compliance (Such as Title IX, et).
- Reviews documents and processes to ensure inclusive language and to create an environment of belonging of all people.
- Assists with outreach efforts to promote cultural relations between school and underserved communities (Identify opportunities and develop strategies that promote Noorda-COM's presence & Influence.
- Listens to concerns without judgement, provide safe spaces for people to share and refers visitors to resources for assistance.
- Serves as the chair of the DEI Committee.
2. As relates to the second half of the position, develops and implements with supervisor a set of responsibilities tied to expertise and experience as well as the needs of the College, such areas as human resource management, legal, special project management, marketing and advancement, recruitment, or similar areas.3. As relates to the overall team:
- Assists in making Noorda-COM a place where people can flourish.
- Serves on various committees and teams within the College as assigned (attending meetings, contributing to discussions, sharing/exchanging information, and leading constituents toward goal attainment) to include advising and mentoring (Students, clubs, campus organizations)
- Contributes to College's compliance with and in the development of required documentation as related to accreditation of the College to which departmental content is contributed, aiding in the attainment of academic compliance.
- Participates in the production of various College materials [academic calendar, strategic planning, directory, College website, etc.] (collecting/preparing materials, organizing/formatting data, adhering to various deadlines, reviewing drafts, providing input/ feedback, etc.).
- Contributes to the College's reputation/image of being one of the best osteopathic medical colleges.
- Is knowledgeable of and remains in compliance with all institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook for the College.
4. Contributes to team effort by performing other duties as needed/assigned.Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required.
Experience:
Three years or more full-time work experience related to belonging and inclusion and other areas of expertise.
Skills & Abilities:
Highly professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and emotional maturity with the essential ability to demonstrate tact and job diplomacy. An understanding of organizational settings with proven knowledge and experience coordinating complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
Must be:
- Able to work independently yet is an effective participant in a team environment.
- Self-motivated, self-disciplined, have a strong work ethic and capable in establishing priorities.
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and effectively handle frequent interruptions.
- Ability to listen to others while also establishing boundaries.
- Detail oriented, including excellent follow through skills essential.
- Capable of balancing multiple projects in stressful situations while meeting deadlines, achieving desired results, and maintaining positive relations.
- Understands the need for confidentiality of data and information and is able to maintain that confidentiality.
- Innovate in support of a dynamic organization that seeks to create better ways of educating students.
Skills in Microsoft Office Suite and other software as appropriate.
